Drilling and Completions Engineer
  • Provide expert advice and guidance related to drilling, completion, stimulation, servicing, suspension and abandonment of conventional and unconventional wells
  • Provide advice and expert opinion to all levels of Senior Management and Board Members

Qualifications:

  • Significant experience with in-situ oilsands wells, coal bed methane wells and storage caverns
  • Strong on-site well experience

Production / Operations Engineer
Small junior company required a production / Operations Engineer to handle the production, operations and most responsibilities for an area. Downhole completions / workover knowledge is a plus. Minimum of 5 years experience.

Senior Production Engineer
Responsible for setting and delivering base production and unit operating cost targets for the Northern Business Unit assets located in Alberta and British Columbia. This role also significantly contributes to the business unit capital investment program, having responsibility for planning and implementing field facility work such as equipment and tie-in of new wells, facility expansion assessments, etc. Operational troubleshooting and optimization, both surface and sub-surface, is a further requirement for this role.

Qualifications:
  • The Successful candidates will possess strong leadership and organizational skills, with a strong ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. You will liase effectively between the Calgary office and field office staff and have the skills to assess and communicate business improvement opportunities.
  • A strong background in field operations is required, along with a strong understanding of operating and financial performance measures. Experience in subsurface maintenance, artificial lift design and workover operations will be considered an asset.

Team Lead - Reservoir & Production Engineering

Responsible for all subsurface engineering activities in the asset team; contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment necessary for maturation of their expansion and other sustaining capital projects.

  • Lead the Reservoir & Production Engineering team through corporate requirements and subsurface engineering best practices.
  • Manage personnel and general administration of the reservoir and production engineering team providing day to day direction and guidance of staff, including delegation of workload, technical liaison and advice, performance feedback, hands on follow up and hiring offsetting recommendations.
  • Prepare regular progress reports.
  • Provide reservoir and production engineering support and conduct various technical work as required to meet subsurface deliveries.

  • 15+ years of related Reservoir Engineering industry experience working within an integrated team including geology, geophysics and other engineering disciplines
  • 15 years minimum of Reservoir Engineering experience in SAGD/thermal recovery of Heavy OIl or Oil Sands is required
  • Experience with thermal simulation is necessary (STARS, Exotherm or Eclipse)
  • Experience with uncertainty analysis is necessary
  • Solid supervisory and management skills/experience are required

Lead Reservoir Engineer
Oil Sands
  • Acts as the local reservoir process manager for the oil Sands assets.
  • Advises on reservoir activities across the assets with a view to improving the performance of in situ developments.
  • Strong integrated interface with the other disciplines including Geology, Geophysics, Production and FAcilities in addition to working across assets and with corporate process owners/Principle Engineers.
  • This position secures technical alignment across all teams as key advisor on discipline best practice and coordinates cross organizational tasks/studies
  • Integral member of the QA/QC team
  • Champions implementation of appropriate work processes and use of new technologies to ensure a high quality of reservoir engineering and SAGD acumen
  • Leads local discipline network and is active in the corporate network
  • Provides Reservoir Engineering technical advice and specialized project support to the Asset teams in liaison with technical specialists
  • Leads technical workshops to increase general  SAGD acumen and reservoir engineering principles
Qualifications:
  • Master of Science in Engineering preferred and APEGGA Member
  • A minimum of 15 years of related Reservoir Engineering industry experience is required including a minimum of 10 years in SAGD/oil sands
  • Prior management experience and/or training and strong mentorship skills

Senior Reservoir Engineer

  • Provide reservoir engineering and simulation support to the development of oil sands assets by using SAGD, solvent co-injection and/or other novel thermal recovery technologies.
  • Work in a team environment with Geology, Geophysics and other Engineering disciplines. Conduct numerical modeling, subsurface studies and exploitation planning.
  • Generate production forecasts using reservoir simulation, production analysis and other reservoir engineering techniques . Optimize well pattern layouts, development  sequences and well placement.
  • Formulate fit for purpose reservoir surveillance plans to collect reservoir data.
  • Analyze subsurface and surface field data to obtain key reservoir/well performance parameters.
  • Perform regional studies (including analyzing competitor public data) to improve understanding of the SAGD process. Generate risked OBIP, production profiles, recoverable volumes for reservoir management. Participate in the reserve booking process including technical justifications to the regulator and offsetting operators. Peer assist QA tasks on other assets.
  • Assist in mentoring less experienced Engineers, EITs and intern students.

Qualifications:
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or be a Canadian Landed Immigrant
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • APEGGA membership (P.Eng. designation) is required
  • 10+ years experience in reservoir engineering and related experience working within an integrated team including Geology, Geophysics and other Engineering disciplines
  • 10 years minimum experience with SAGD development process is required
  • Reservoir experience in thermal recovery of bitumen is required
  • Exposure to steam solvent co-injection and/or Gas - Over _ Bitumen is preferred
  • Experience with STARS, Exotherm or Eclipse Thermal simulation is required

Senior Exploitation Engineer
Junior Oil & Gas producer requires a Senior Exploitation Engineer to the Vice President , Engineering and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of Land, Operations, Engineering, Geology and Geophysics professionals to identify, evaluate, prioritize, plan and execute drilling, optimization and facilities projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and evaluate reservoir performance to develop long term depletion strategies that optimize production and recovery for new and existing producing reservoirs
  • Build and be able to clearly articulate to team and senior management, the key recommendations for the depletion strategies integrating engineering, geology and geophysics
  • Contribute to formulation of annual budgets and long range plans by developing production and economic forecasts for exploration and development opportunities

Operations Engineer

Small private oil and gas producer requires a production operations engineer to handle all responsibilities of an area (approximately 2500 boed).  3-4 years experience.  Must have a degree in an Engineering discipline.

Manager, Reservoir Engineering (Oil Sands)
The Manager, Reservoir Engineering manages the Reservoir and Production Engineering staff who provide ongoing support and specialized services to the asset teams. This position provides day to day direction and guidance to the staff and will also have a "hands on" role in providing reservoir and Production Engineering technical support to ongoing projects and delivering specialist services listed below:

  • Management contact for the maturation the assets from the reservoir perspective
  • Provide reservoir engineering technical support to the asset teams in liaison with technical specialist to meet subsurface needs through:
    • Technology optimization studies;
    • Reservoir simulations;
    • SAGD analog studies;
    • Reservoir pressure monitoring and test analyses;
    • Annual Resource and reserves consolidation
  • Provide day to day direction and guidance to the Reservoir Engineering team including delegation of workload, technical liaison and advice performance feedback and hiring recommendations;
  • Report activities and progress of the team to management
  • Contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment to ensure that the Asset teams are well prepared for decision gates through to sanction and beyond as necessary.
  • Responsible for approvals and related administration of the Reservoir Engineering team (vacation, expenses, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering;
  • APEGGA member;
  • A minimum of 15 years of related Reservoir Engineering industry experience is required including a minimum of 5 years in SAGD/oil sands;
  • Prior management experience and/or training
  • Demonstrated experience in maturing assets to development and ultimate production;
  • SAGD Reservoir and Production operations experience;
  • Demonstrated skill in reservoir optimization and technology;

Heavy Oil Production Engineer (Rotation)
The Production Engineer will provide production support and mentoring for production operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to, production engineering support, mentoring national staff, production optimization, cost reduction, workover evaluations, completion and remedial workover programming, well servicing economics, technology review and project implementation. The position is a rotational position.

Qualifications:

  • Must have 8 years of varied heavy oil petroleum engineering or technical experience in production engineering, operations, workovers and completions, petroleum economics.
  • BSc in Petroleum Engineering or related engineering discipline. APEGGA membership or equivalent required. Technologist must have a Diploma in Engineering Technology and be a certified Engineering Technologist.
  • Experienced in conventional heavy oil , waterflood and secondary recovery
  • The ability to work several assignments simultaneously with minimal supervision
  • Must have cold heavy oil sand production experience with progressive cavity pumps.
  • Knowledge in heavy oil remedial workovers and completions is required
  • Heavy oil waterflood or secondary recovery is required
  • Field experience is an asset.
  • Thermal EOR or SAGD experience would be an asset.
  • Exploitation and reservoir engineering experience would be an asset but not required.
  • International experience would also be an asset but not required.
Responsible for:
  • Assist Lead Production Engineer as required
  • Optimize daily production for cold heavy oil production using PC pump technology
  • Provide technical support to the field operation team
  • Assist in the development and implementation of artificial lift technology for heavy oil operations and new technology development
  • Analyze and recommend workover and re-completion activity
  • Prepare workover and servicing economics, prepare workover and completions programs
  • Reduction of operating costs and capital expenditures
  • Assist in developing annual budgets  and reserves evaluations
  • Will require routine supervisions and mentoring of national engineering personnel

GEOLOGISTS

Senior Exploration Geologist - Offshore
Providing geological support to the technical evaluation of investment opportunities and support in planning and follow-up of well operations. Strong technical expertise and leadership with current technologies that apply to exploration and development (landmark, Petrel, RMS). A minimum of 10 years industry experience,  offshore experience would be an asset.


Reservoir Geologist - Water
Create accurate subsurface maps of water aquifers and related formations. Integrate well logs, core and test data to build geological interpretations. Plan for and help execute a drilling program to further evaluate water resources.  A minimum of 2 years experience in subsurface mapping, preferably within the oil sands region of NE Alberta.

Heavy Oil Geologist
Provide geological evaluations for production operations.  Planning and executing horizontal and vertical infill and stepout drilling programs. Evaluate for secondary and OR development projects. Assist in building a detailed geologic model.  Develop future gas exploration prospects. Heavy oil and some gas.  B.Sc. Geology with 8+ years experience.  Strong Clastics and Sedimentology experience required. Knowledge of Petrel Software is a definite asset. Must have heavy oil experience, and must have extensive experience in drilling horizontal wells!
